Craicin’ Improv Comedy for a Great Cause!

Join us, the John Dawson Improv Troupe, for a night of craicin’ comedy for a great cause!

All proceeds are in aid of JIGSAW – YOUNG PEOPLE’S HEALTH IN MIND. Mental health problems are the largest single source of ill health in our young people. In every community up and down the country, young people are seeking support and somewhere to turn to. In Jigsaw, they have that place.

Born out of DawsonDramaworks improvisation workshops, the JOHN DAWSON IMPROV TROUPE performs completely off-the-cuff, made-up-in-the-moment improvised comedy, based upon audience suggestions.

There will be raffle draws throughout the night and, with every ticket, there’s a chance of winning a great door prize!
Please join us and we’ll have a great laugh, while helping those who are the future of Ireland….today’s young people.

JOHN DAWSON:

John has been teaching master-classes and workshops in improv, characterization, scene study, audition technique and on-camera acting for over 21 years in three countries. He has taught hundreds of actors and comics at his own Dublin studio and at Dublin’s Gaiety School of Acting, The Actors Centre in London, The Galway Film Centre, and Toronto’s Equity Showcase Theatre. He taught film acting for over 6 years at Trinity College’s Samuel Beckett Centre. John’s own Dublin-based improv troupe ‘Mondo Bizarro’performed regularly throughout Ireland for two years, including with 5 sold-out shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2013.

TESTIMONIALS:
“I have studied improv in North America and Europe, and John Dawson is by far the most energetic and enthusiastic teacher with whom I have ever had the pleasure of studying. His exercises pinpoint weaknesses that we improvers may have never known how to tackle. He knows exactly how to loosen up the performers. It’s no wonder his name became famous in the “underground” improv scene in Dublin, he’s the best.”
NATALIE PLAZA, performer w/ Annoyance Theatre, NYC and formerly w/ The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, NYC

“We at Trinity saw the benefit of John’s work as did all who he taught. He’s a great teacher who engages with students in a fantastic and practical way.”
ANDY CROOK, former course co-coordinator – Professional Actor Training Programme, Trinity College, Dublin

“Performers who’ve trained with John have a definite edge because they can adapt to handle the toughest audiences.”
TONY FERNS, producer, ‘Battle of the Axe’ Comedy Club, Dublin
