Fintan McHugh Album Launch + Lucie & Consuelo

Join us for a great night of music in The Cobblestone! Fintan McHugh’s Album launch with support from Lucie Azconaga & Consuelo Breschi.

Fintan McHugh is a traditional singer, guitarist and cittern player. He was born in Dublin into a musical household, he grew up in the Wicklow mountains as well as in the valleys of Zurich, and currently lives in Germany. He’s currently performing in Switzerland, Germany and Belgium with his solo project and with the “Joe McHugh Band” and in 2016 he recorded his first solo Album “Wait Till The Clouds Roll By” produced and recorded by the great piper Joe McKenna.

“A unique catalogue of stunning interpretative skills…each gripping syllable retaining a knife-edged excitement…”Wait till The Clouds Roll By” reveals a major new Irish folk talent. Future recordings will reveal the fully realised harvest of riches which are gathered here in this sparse yet complex, raw yet elegant debut. For an opening move in a solo career for Fintan McHugh none could be better and more illuminating than “Wait till the Clouds Roll By”
– John O’Regan

“…alive and dangerous feel to the album…he channels the spirit of Andy Irvine in his cittern and harmonica work…pacing is a pleasure on this album…”
– Seàn Laffey, Irish Music Magazine

Lucie Azconaga and Consuelo Breschi are a fiddle and vocal duet. They arrange traditional tunes and songs, by weaving around the melodies with harmonies, drones, and countermelody, to create new avenues for the tunes to go down. Lucie, from France, and Consuelo, from Italy met in 2015, after moving to Dublin to pursue their love for Irish traditional music, and immediately started a fruitful collaboration. They travelled to Ireland along different musical paths, Lucie from jazz, classical music, and French folk, Consuelo from Irish trad, folk, and world music. The influences in their playing and singing are many: from baroque and medieval music to the inspiring traditional Irish music scenes of Dublin and Belfast, and from the singing of Sandy Denny, Ann Briggs, June Tabor, Maddy Prior, Dolores Keane, John Faulkner, and Eithne Ní Uallacháin, to name but a few. Lucie and Consuelo are also involved in other projects, such as The Morning Tree, the Lisa O’ Neill band, and The Nomadic Piano Ensemble. They have both performed extensively in Italy, France, Ireland, and the UK.
