Fíona Nic Conmara & Tim Doyle – Scáthanna

Fíona Nic Conmara & Tim Doyle – Scáthanna album will be launched by Tom Doorley with guests Gráinne Fitzgibbon on harp and Joey Doyle on guitar.

‘Scáthanna’, the debut duet album from Fíona Nic Conmara & Tim Doyle, is an album of traditional Irish music on fiddle and concertina, with tracks featuring the uilleann pipes and tin whistle, and accompaniment from Joey Doyle (Guitar), Gráinne Fitzgibbon (Harp), and Kevin Meehan (Bodhrán).

Fíona and Tim both hail from Shankill in County Dublin, with musical backgrounds from an early age in life.  Beginning their musical partnership almost two decades ago, they have played countless gigs, competitions and performances over the years together, both nationally and internationally, developing and meshing their own unique styles with one another’s.

There is a story with light humour attached to the name of the album. Initially coming up short with an album name they found relevant to them, the duo reverted back to their childhood memories.

“Growing up, we found our paths crossing in every direction – from attending the same secondary school, music and theory lessons and even tennis lessons!  As recently as last year, we were invited on the same Comhaltas tour group.  There was a long running joke between our group of friends that we were each other’s shadows growing up. We decided to put that joke to good use, with the end result being ‘Scáthanna’”.
