Mossie Martin – The Humours of Derrynacoosan

The Dublin launch of Mossie Martin’s album, ‘The Humours of Derrynacoosan’, accompanied by John Blake on guitar and piano. From the townland of Derrynacoosan near Keadue in north Roscommon, Mossie is a fiddler steeped in the North Connaught tradition and a member of the acclaimed Dartry Céilí Band.
 
The Humours of Derrynacoosan is an album of tunes inspired by, and in some cases composed by, North Connaught musicians including Josie McDermott, Philip Duffy, Charlie Lennon, Seamus Thompson, Maggie Cassidy and Turlough Carolan.
 
The album also features Tom Martin on mouth organ, Áine Martin on harp and Brendan Martin on fiddle and banjo.
 
Described by Michael Rooney as ‘…one of the finest exponents of the music of North Connaught’, Mossie will present the music from the album along with surprise guests.
