The Night Before Larry Got Stretched

The Night Before Larry Got Stretched is a monthly traditional singing session held in The Cobblestone. This Sunday we have Doireann Glackin from Dublin (via Muscraí).

Doireann Glackin hails from the north-side of Dublin, and is steeped in the rich musical tradition of the area. From her paternal family, The Glackin’s, she learnt the fiddle under the tutelage of her father, Kevin Glackin. Now, one of traditional music’s emerging young artists, she has travelled the world with her fiddle. After many acclaimed performances on national broadcast stations Glackin was appointed presenter of Fleadhtv 2018 and Tradfest TG4, making her a leading broadcaster in traditional music. Her much anticipated debut album is due to be released at the end of 2018.

From her maternal family, Glackin inherited a love of sean-nós singing and has won various awards and competitions in this field. She is currently undergoing a PHD in NUIG on this topic. Much of her thesis relates to the music studied by her grandfather Seán Ó Riada.
