Saileog Ní Cheannabháin & Guests

Saileog Ní Cheannabháin will be launching her new album, Roithleán, at this concert of fiddle, piano, viola and sean-nós music. Playing mostly solo, Saileog will be joined by some guest musicians for a few numbers on the night.

Saileog studied classical piano at DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama for twelve years, mainly with Shirin Goudarzi-Tobin (completing Grade 8 – with Distinction – at the age of 16.) She continued her piano studies in University College Cork with Andrew Zolinsky and Tra Nguyen. She has also been playing Irish traditional music on the piano for over 16 years. Her traditional piano playing is self-taught, but her style has primarily been influenced by concertina and accordion players’ ornamentation, phrasing, rhythm, and use of chords.
