Light flickers in even the darkest of spaces and smallest cracks. The Chicago quartet—Josh Solomon [guitar, vocals], Erika Brett [keyboards, vocals], Nate Bellon [bass, vocals], and Adam Balasco [drums]—lean on an unspoken, yet airtight musical dialogue honed by countless miles on the road, performances alongside the likes of Kenny Loggins, a procession of fan favorite releases (including two #1 Billboard Blues Albums), and a wealth of memories together.

The Irish from Brittany - A story of a migration

The Irish from Brittany - A story of a migration

The Irish from Brittany

The Irish from Brittany is an artistic creation around Irish and Breton music which seeks to shed light on a lesser-known aspect of our history (Breton history), that is the immigration of tens of thousands of Irish people here over more than a century right up the 1800s. While researching the works of historians who have studied Irish immigration, the musicians found that hundreds of families had Irish surnames without knowing it. These names were Bretonised. “Súilleabháin” became “Soulevan”. These traces can also be found in the architecture and certain traditions. This Irish presence is attested to in the civil registers at that period.

"With the Irish of Brittany, we imagined what the meeting of both cultures might have been like, while still taking a certain amount of liberty. To do this, we composed songs and tunes and delved into traditional sources. We wanted to create an immersive experience using quotes taken from archives but also using soundscapes.” It is a very rich creation and an ambitious music encounter in four languages, Breton, Irish Gaelic, French and English. You will hear instruments that are emblematic of Irish music, and which have become firmly established alongside our own traditional music instruments.

"With this creation, we are giving the spectator an insight into an area of our own history that fascinates us as musicians.”

For this performance, O’Breskey is joined by an exciting new quartet featuring leading figures in Ireland’s contemporary Trad and Folk scene: Paahto Cummins (Skipper’s Alley/Ispíní na hÉireann) on banjo, mandolin, tin whistle, Consuelo Nerea (Varo/Landless) on vocals, fiddle, bodhrán and Ross Chaney (Throwing Shapes/John Francis Flynn/Seamas Hyland) on synthesizers and drums.

Dublin Across the Atlantic Launch: Andrew Caden & Conor McDonagh

Andrew Caden (fiddle) and Conor McDonagh (flute) are two of the most promising young traditional musicians in Ireland today. Their debut album - Across the Atlantic - was produced by John Carty and released by Racket Records in June 2025. They are excited to be playing in the Cobblestone Backroom to celebrate the launch of their new recording.

Conor is from Killavil, Co. Sligo while Andrew comes from Bethesda, Maryland USA. Despite geological separation, they both share similar influences from around Conor's locality making this recording a representation of Sligo traditional music from both sides of the Atlantic. Their album was described by Mick O'Connor as "not only matching but truly carrying forward the legacy of the old masters," saying that Andrew and Conor both "deserve great credit for seeking out archival recordings and lesser-known versions of tunes."

They are both excited to be playing in the Cobblestone Backroom to celebrate the launch of their new CD!

Walt McClements + Natalia Beylis

Walt McClements

“Thresholds (through a hole in the fence)” is a moving journey, an invitation to be carried on waves of sound to an unfamiliar destination. - Phillip Sherbourne, Pitchfork

“A Hole In The Fence” is an alchemical feat of sound, transforming the rise and fall of the accordion into a bright, metallic sheen. - Andrew Ryce, Resident Advisor

Walt McClements is an accordionist, multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Los Angeles. His solo compositions focus on processed accordion, creating patient and emotional meditations that nod to drone and ambient music. His debut record, “A Hole in the Fence” was released in 2021 on American Dreams, and utilized a minimal palette of accordions processed through pedals to create glacial soundscapes and odes to hidden worlds. On his latest record, and first for Western Vinyl, “On a Painted Ocean”, he expands his sonic tools to include lush synths, droning pipe organs, and spirited horns, creating a vibrant journey from solitary stillness to community exuberance. The record also follows last year’s “Rain on the Road”, a collaborative album with harpist Mary Lattimore, released on Thrill Jockey.

Prior to releasing music under his own name, McClements had been a touring member of Weyes Blood, Hurray for the Riff Raff, and Dark Dark Dark, as well as leading New Orleans art-punk brass ensemble Why Are We Building Such A Big Ship? and one man band Lonesome Leash.

Natalia Beylis

Natalia Beylis' music revolves somewhere between sonic story-teller and multi-instrumental explorer. She has released over 40 albums between solo works and collaborations and has appeared on numerous compilations. Based in rural Ireland, her work parallels the lines of her surroundings: creaking trees, farm animals, vocal samples taken from conversations with her neighbours, the northwesterly breeze, creatures rusting in the hedgerows, strange noises from the bog at dusk and rainfall. Lots and lots of rainfall.

Her solo compositions and improvisations are a mix of garbled tape collage recordings, manipulated sounds of seemingly mundane objects, eerie mandola mantras and dreamscape piano voyages. While she regularly records on a variety of traditional instruments, she is just as likely to use non-musical sound sources within her compositions. For example, she recently released an album using just the sounds created by a domestic Singer sewing machine. Natalia regularly collaborates with cellist Eimear Reidy, percussionist Willie Stewart in the duo 'Hedgling' and is a member of the group BB84. She also creates pieces for ensembles. Her latest composition, 'Around Here, The Birds Plant The Trees' uses conkers both as a sonic source and as a visual conducting aid to direct the players.
